MAKES 1 DRINK

Stir ½ teaspoon matcha powder into 1 cup hot water and add a squeeze of fresh lemon, lime, or orange juice. Stir the tea as you drink—otherwise the matcha will sink to the bottom of the mug.

If matcha’s not your thing, try one of these options. Find whatever suits you best and consider it your A.M. riser from here on out:

•Combine 1 cup hot green tea with one ½-inch slice peeled fresh ginger (just let it steep in the liquid). Add a squeeze of lemon and a cinnamon stick.

•Want a caffeine-free option? Combine 1 cup hot water with one ½-inch slice peeled fresh ginger (steeped in the water), a squeeze of lemon, and a cinnamon stick.

•Mix ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric (or one ½-inch piece peeled fresh turmeric root), ½ teaspoon raw honey, and the juice of ½ lemon into a mug of warm water. Add a dash of cinnamon (optional). Stir to keep the turmeric from settling on the bottom.
